About Lactulose:

Lactulose is FDA* approved^ and used by hospitals and clinics for relief of constipation. Lactulose draws fluid into the bowel and increases water content, softening the stools.

According to research# (compared to control group), taking Lactulose produces significant increases in the frequency, weight, volume and water content of stools, and produces stools of softer consistency, thereby relieving constipation.

Lactulose is an osmotic laxative for the treatment of constipation. It is composed of galactose and fructose and works by drawing fluid into the bowel to form soft stool and eventually promoting defecation.

Lactulose is a non-absorbable synthetic sugar. The usual dose of "Lalalax®" in constipation is unlikely to affect diabetics. It is suitable for diabetic patients and people concerned about blood sugar.

• When taking Lalalax®, it is recommended to drink sufficient amounts of fluids (1.5 - 2L per day).
• Flatulence may occur after taking, and will resolve in a couple of days. When a higher dose than recommended is used, you may experience abdominal pain and diarrhoea. In this case, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended Dosage:

Adults & Children over 14 years

• Starting Dose (Daily)#: 1–3 sachets
• Maintenance Dose (Daily)#: 1–2 sachets

Children 7–14 years

• Starting Dose (Daily)#: 1 sachet
• Maintenance Dose (Daily)#: 1 sachet

• Tear the top off the sachet and take orally immediately. For better taste, Lalalax® may be taken with water, fruit juice or milk, or mixing with food.
• It is recommended to take at the same time each day in order to form a regular habit of intake.
• Dosage can be individualized, depending on the severity of constipation.
• The starting dose may be adjusted to the maintenance dose based upon individual treatment effects#.
• When taking Lalalax®, it is recommended to drink sufficient amounts of fluids (1.5–2L per day).
